Medical robotics with soft/miniature designs is an interdisciplinary and fast-growing research field, which involves not only researchers in engineering and science, but also medical professionals with different expertise. Medical professionals’ engagement and ideas are indispensable in the clinical translation of medical robotics for generating real social impact. Hence, the Croucher Advanced Study Institutes 2024 (ASI) aims to bridge the communities of robotics and medicine, focusing on engineering innovation with a strong emphasis on medical robotics with soft/miniature designs and their clinical translation. It will provide tutorials and updates to the latest and rapid advances in the related medical robotics fields. Lecturers consist of pioneers in medical soft/miniature robots and leading international experts in the relevant fields across the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Australia, Singapore and Korea. Moreover, local medical professionals covering a wide range of specialties will be engaged to further the breadth and depth of expertise involved in this ASI.
ASI 2024 will be the first-of-its-kind in Hong Kong. It will serve as a forum for training, brainstorming and discussion of research strategies and advancements from engineering aspects, and challenges and clinical needs from medical aspects.
